Until I came across Burke and April Lauderdale’s article in Working Not Working, I had never had the pleasure of meeting them. Other than some back and forth with Burke about telling their story here on Strange Alchemy, I still haven’t. What I love about these two is the gutsy move they decided to make not long ago when they said goodbye to their successful careers— they’re both art directors— packed their bags and set off for a year that would disrupt their perspectives, their relationships with creativity and their careers in ways neither of them would have expected. Following their year of creative awakening, the Lauderdale’s came back with 11 profound lessons for us all. And you don’t even have to take a year off to benefit from them.
Very inspiring. I admire people who step off the path and set off on adventures like this.
Really like this post. I've travelled the world and every time I go to someplace new, my world view expands and I discover more about myself.
