Interesting perspective on creativity, Ernie.

It’s novel to me bc I never cared about being liked, and I tend to have a boldly shaped point of view. If you asked me about what good creative directors look like, I’d say they have a well developed taste and pov.

“Anything is possible” actually prompts for deeper dissection.

If anything is possible, and we withhold judgement (pov), this almost sounds like this old saying: “if you don’t know where you’re going, every path is a good one”. Perhaps there’s a difference between "unbound creativity" and "applied creativity"? In the latter we buy a POV.

Thank you for sharing this valuable perspective, Ernie. Your thoughts resonate with me, especially reflecting on my experiences during the early days of Covid. Initially, I found myself watching the news for about a week, but the coverage seemed lopsided and depressing. This inspired me to rethink my approach to media consumption. Instead of focusing solely on the news, I turned to Instagram, where I shifted my attention from people to topics and places that mirror my passions, heritage, and aspirations. This shift led me on an enriching path—following classic cars introduced me to an English garage, which sparked an interest in the Mille Miglia, co-driving it with my best friend, and eventually, I found myself learning Italian. It’s been a journey of emergent, creative living driven by my intrinsic motivations. I’ve found confidence and comfort in being self-directed, rather than relying on the media to dictate what’s important. This experience has taught me the value of humility in all aspects of life—intellectual, intuitive, emotional, social, and beyond.

Amazing story. A powerful testament to our ability to follow our own path instead of being led like sheep. So insightful, Patrick.
